Stats: Day 1

THANK YOU to everyone! Thank you for working with me while we fix the nitty gritty details. We're still working out some kinks today. My emails are often short and to the point when fixing the details so thank you for your patience.

Now let's talk about how the hunt is going! I hope you have all seen some fantastic traffic and are welcoming new fans into your fan family.

Yesterday the YA Scavenger Hunt page saw 5,823 page views and already today we are halfway to that mark.

Top sources include:

  • Twitter (Guys, Twitter beat out Google BY FAR)
  • Google
  • Jennifer Armentrout
  • Shortened links people shared for our HOW TO HUNT page and our STUCK page
  • Jessica Brody
  • Facebook
  • Colleen Houck
  • Beth Revis
  • Reddit (I find this one highly interesting)
Favorite keywords:
  • ya scavenger hunt
  • exclusive content for ya scavenger hunt
  • jennifer mcgowan yash bonus
  • what is the ya scavenger hunt
  • amanda sun ya scavenger hunt
  • book scavenger hunt
  • colleen houck yash
  • fall scavenger hunt
Top countries:
  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • Philippines
  • Brazil
  • Saudi Arabia
  • India
  • Sweden
  • France
71% are using computers while the remaining 29% are on mobile devices. This number increases each hunt so if you don't have a mobile friendly site, you might want to consider that.

Number of entries:
  • Green: 227
  • Red: 200
  • Gold: 168
  • Orange: 131
  • Indie: 106
  • Blue: 177
Colleen and I were talking about why there are so many more entries for Green Team and we think part of it is because we're seeing a lot of traffic to the STUCK page and Green Team is listed first. So I'm going to switch it up and stick Indie up top (since it has the least entries) and Green at the bottom (since it has the most) and see if we see a difference in that.

Fall 2014 Hunt

This will be our largest hunt ever!

With 125 authors participating, you can imagine that we might be a little nervous as to how smoothly things will run. Please take the time to look over the template and sample post that we have provided on this site. You are welcome to format your post however you'd like just be sure to include the key items: the YASH logo, instructions on how to play, the bio & book info of the author you are hosting, your own personal giveaway if you desire, your secret number, what team you are on, and a link to the next author on your team. Yup, pretty much everything in the template!

If you have questions, ask! We are here to help in any way we can. You can't ask too many questions. :-)

You can contact me (Suki) on twitter @YAScavengerHunt or on Facebook or here through a comment or email at yash.organizer@gmail.com.

You can also direct questions to Colleen Houck or Tera Lynn Childs.

Happy hunting!

Second Day Stats (YASH Spring 2014)

Day two is done and over with no major problems. Way to go!

Our page views are similar to day one with 2497 views. Our numbers are down from previous hunts which could mean a few things. 1) There are less people playing or 2) Everyone's links going from one to another is working well and not many people need to come to the YASH page.

I'm still surprised at how many people are viewing on tablets and mobile devices. I use mine a lot but I'd never take on something like the YASH!

We have 260 entries for BLUE and 286 entries for RED.

First Day Stats (YASH Spring 2014)

Hello! What a fantastic start to the hunt! Thank you all for your wonderful posts.

Yesterday we saw 2,588 page views! The stats clicked over to "today" pretty early in the evening (and I'm even on Eastern time so I don't know what determines a day for blogger stats).

More and more people are finding us through Google! That means people are remembering this event.

Other top sources include links from:

  • Colleen Houck
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Jenny Lundquist
  • C. J. Redwine
  • Lucy Connors
  • Jeri Smith-Ready
I love seeing the countries. It is amazing to be able to reach so many people!
  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • Philippines
  • France
  • Brazil
  • Mexico
  • Germany
  • Italy
As far as browsers and operating systems go, over 25% of our hunters are using tablets or mobile devices.

We have 136 entries for Blue team and 146 entries for Red team.

I have heard a few comments that some of the blue team has their numbers in RED instead of in BLUE. I'm guessing that's because the color in the sample post is red. If you have a moment to change that color, it'd be great.

Keep advertising the hunt! Many people are coming from Facebook and Twitter. The power of social media! If you use Pinterest, it'd be great to utilize that avenue too. You can repin this, if you'd like. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/240520436323837421/

We got the most traffic through:
  • Twitter links
  • Facebook links
  • A few individual blogs, including those of Colleen Houck, Jessica Shirvington, Jessica Khoury, Amy Plum, Victoria Scott, and myself
  • GoodReads (from pages where authors feed their blogs/tweets through GR)
  • Google--which is fairly new. People are googling our site and finding us that way. Two people were looking for an "adult" scavenger hunt, but maybe they found something good with us, too, lol!
