End of Hunt Statistics!

Thanks to everyone for a great hunt! We had over 1200 entries for both the red team and the blue team, nearly 8k pageviews for both the first and second day of the hunt (and 4k on the third day).

All in all, we reached thousands of teens across the world, and I hope everyone saw a similar bump in their own website stats (I know I did!) as well as followers in social media.

Our top traffic sources are:

  • Google--holy cow! This is a change.
  • Facebook--both mobile and static
  • Colleen's website
  • Jennifer Armentrout's website
  • Twitter
  • GoodReads (mostly from those of you who feed your blogs into GoodReads)
  • Specific author bogs such as Josephine Angelini, Amy Plum, Lea Nolan

And we've reached the following countries (in order of pageviews total from this week):
  • USA --nearly 17000 (that's 17 THOUSAND) American pageviews
  • Canada--nearly 1600
  • UK--nearly 1400
  • Australia--over 1000
  • Germany--over 500
  • Sweden--over 250
  • Philippines--over 250
  • Italy--about 175
  • Brazil--over 100
  • New Zealand--over 100

First Day Statistics for Spring 2013 Hunt!

As you can see, our first day pretty much blew it out of the water! We got nearly 8000 pageviews yesterday!! This is more than 2k more pageviews we got at this time last hunt, so brava everyone!

(Ignore the drop after that--today's not over yet, and Google only refreshes the analytics at certain times throughout the day.)

Today's Statistics:
Red Team has a little over 545 entries right now, and blue team has about 459--not bad, considering blue team had a little trouble getting everything up on time.

One thing I found interesting: about 25% of our people use a smart phone or tablet to access the Hunt. That' pretty amazing--and worth keeping in mind if you happen to have an un-friendly-for-mobile-phones website.

Our current top traffic sources are:

  • 593 from Facebook
  • 443 from Colleen's website
  • 414 from Google
  • 347 from Twitter
  • 265 from Jennifer Armentrout's website
  • 115 from GoodReads
  • 95 from the mobile Facebook page
  • Around 100 each from the following authors: Josie Angelini, Lea Nolan, Amy Plum

And we've reached the following countries (in order of pageviews total from this week):
  • USA
  • Canada
  • UK
  • Australia
  • Germany
  • Sweden
  • Philippines
  • Italy
  • Brazil
  • New Zealand
And people definitely know to search for us! Google Keywords is showing that around 200 people found us through "ya scavenger hunt" or some other variation.

Also, the post that got the most hits was the "How to Hunt" post I threw up before the hunt started--I am taking that to mean that people would like an additional page with clearer instructions, so I'm going to work on adding that after the hunt. If anyone has any helpful tips they'd like me to add, please pass them along!

Day 3 Stats

We're still going strong with a three-day total of more than 21,000 pageviews! Each team has about 1200 entrants as of now as well, which is really great!

As the weekend gears up, don't forget to tweet about #YASH--especially if your scavenger hunt blog pots's been buried under other posts :)

Thanks everyone!

Stats For Day 2

Still going strong! We're going strong at about 9,100 hits today (noon yesterday to noon today).  (The sudden drop-off at the end of the chart on the right is due to the day's calculations cutting off at noon. But as you can see, by noon today we'd had about 5k hits already, so I'm confident this is going to be a pretty high number for tomorrow.)

Blue team has 907 entrants currently, and Red team has 906.

We've added Argentina to the countries that are participating in the Hunt, and we're now getting a steady number of people coming to the YA Scavenger Hunt site from author blogs (other than just Colleen's, where many people get their start). What this tells me is that as people finish the hunt, they go straight from the last blog they view on the hunt to the hunt page in order to enter.  It seems to me that what we're seeing is a trend of people following the hunt from author site to author site, which means that even if some people will eventually not complete the whole hunt (inevitable), they are at least being exposed to new authors' webpages.

I'm also hoping that many of you are seeing a spike in hits on your websites! I know I've personally got about 1000 more pageviews than normal.

Day One Stats!

DID YOU GUYS SEE THIS?! On the very first day, we became a TRENDING TOPIC ON TWITTER!!!! That totally blew me away; I'm so glad happened!!!

Today's Statistics:
Red Team has a little over 300 entries right now, and blue team has about 250. We had a few hiccups with some posts, but everything seems to be running smoothly now and everyone's had access to the sites.

The YA Scavenger Hunt page hit close to 10,000 hits yesterday. Right now, it's only recording about 700 for today, but that's because Analytics has yet to count the total for today--I'm certain it's well over yesterday's hits!

Our current top traffic sources are:

  • 564 people came from Twitter (you can follow the hashtag here)
  • 526 people came from Facebook
  • 458 people came from Colleen's site
  • 446 people came from Google
  • Followed by about 50-100 links from various other sites, mostly you guys
And we've reached the following countries (in order of pageviews total from this week):
  • 11k people from USA
  • 1k from Canada
  • 750 from UK
  • 353 from Australia
  • 350 from Germany
  • 137 from Mexico
  • 89 from Philippines
  • 85 from Puerto Rico
  • 77 from Ireland
  • 62 from Brazil
I think it is QUITE safe to say that this season's hunt was our largest so far--and remember, not all the stats from today are even in yet! This is just traffic from yesterday and this morning as the hunt was kicking off!

I'll keep adding new stats each day. Please let me know if there's anything specific that you want to know (i.e. 25% of our users use Google Chrome! Fascinating, I know.)

Thanks everyone--we couldn't make this hunt work without YOUR hard work!!
